“Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional.” For the lovely ladies of Channel 4’s award-winning documentary Fabulous Fashionistas, this is a motto to live by. And what a great motto it is.
The film, directed by Sue Bourne, presents six individual, inspiring women – all with a love for clothing, a desire to look stylish and most of all, to have fun. The impressive thing is though, is that these women have an average age of 80. Grey hair and Gucci? Oh yes.
Since the show was first aired back in September of this year, the ladies have progressed rapidly onto fashion shoots, as well as talks and conferences – where the 6 stars tell their stories on how they remain fashionable no matter what occupation or age.
There is a freedom that comes with getting older – there’s no desire to impress and instead of relying on trends, older women can explore their personal influences. There are no rules anymore; you can make your own.
The beauty of aging is that we only have one go at it, so why not really go for it?
We will in WALL’s newest collection - what, this old thing?
